Peanut chutney

Chutney with peanuts! this is new to my family. This is a recipe from my colleague. We generally have breakfast together. That is the time I tasted this chutney. Somewhere, this chutney tasted like peanut butter to me. It is good as a combo for Dosa(pan cakes;) and Chappati(thin bread)

Preparation time: 5 mins
Cooking time: 10 mins

Pea nuts : 1 cup
Channa dal (Chic pea) : 1/4 cup
Coconut grated : 1/4 cup
Tamarind : Size of a rupee coin.
Red chillies : 3 to 5 (Depends on spice level)
Garlic peeled: 4 cloves.
Mustard seeds : 1/2 tea spoon
Curry leaves : One row.
Oil : 2 table spoon
Salt as needed.

1. Dry roast peanuts until it crackles and turns golden brown. Transfer it to a separate container and allow it to cool.
2. Heat a pan with one table spoon of oil, add peeled garlic pods, let it fry till it fry till starts becoming golden brown.
3. Add Channa dal, Coconut and Red chillies into the same pan and saute for a minute or two.
4. Transfer to a container and allow it to cool.

1. Remove the skin of cooled peanuts, by rubbing them between your palms. You will notice some of the peanuts retain their skin. Let it be, do not rub the life out of them:).
2. In a mixer-grinder, add Peanuts, sauteed mixture of Channa dal, Coconut, Garlic and Red chillies, plus the Tamarind and salt for taste. Grind it to a coarse paste. Make sure to add sufficient water(~1 cup). Transfer the contents to a serving bowl.
3. In a pan heat oil add mustard seeds, after they crackle, add curry leaves and turn off the flame. Add this seasoning to the above contents.
