Updated: October 14th, 2016

Return trip from Udupi to Bangalore via Mangalore was a difficult one with both my kids. The roads were bad, especially at Shiradi ghats. Right from the start of Ghats up to new concreted one, roads are in a very bad condition.
As per the local newspapers, Shiradi ghats would be closed for all traffic from October 15th, 2016 for another 4 months.

Updated: October 1st, 2016

We traveled through the same road again on 1st October. Road condition is bad in Shiradi ghats after the concreted road. Just a little relieved to see better roads than previous years. Road has got chipped off at many places especially at the turns. A few potholes at some places and at a few places the road is missing. Shiradi Ghats is a place where you need to watch out for bad roads after the concreted road ends.
Tolls remain the same as mentioned below.
