Crispy Rava Dosa
When I have no idea what to cook for morning breakfast, this is a quick one. Thin crispy Rava Dosa's are easy to make with a little practice and that reminds me about how I have tried to make it crispy so many times and failed. My mom does it really well. So, as always with her guidance I made it perfect this time. If I can make it, you can too. Try it and let me know.

As the name suggests, the main ingredient here is rava/ semolina. Other ingredients can be added according to your taste. Rice flour is added to obtain the consistency for spreading the batter on the pan.

Preparation time: 20 mins
Cooking time : 20 mins

Crispy Rava Dosa Ingredients

Rava/Semolina -1 cup
Rice flour - 1 cup
Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup, finely chopped
Jeera/ cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Green chillies - 3 nos., finely chopped(adjust according to your taste)
Water as required.
Salt to taste

  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Add water to make it into a thin, watery consistency. Make sure there aren't any lumps.
  3. Keep aside for  30 mins.
  4. Heat a pan on medium flame
  5. Add a teaspoon of oil and spread it around the pan (you can use a halved onion to achieve this).
  6. Pour the batter around the pan using a ladle.
  7. Let it fry till it turns golden brown.
  8. There is no need to flip it, since it gets cooked on top as well. If you think there is any uncooked batter on the top you can flip it.
  9. Serve it hot with  Coriander and coconut chutney.

  • You can also use leftover dosa batter instead of rice flour. It gives a very good flavor.
  • Make sure the pan is not too hot, it makes dosa's thick.
