Neer Dosa | Panpole

By 22:32:00 , , ,

Neer Dosa is an authentic Manglorean dish, liked by many. Easy and simple to make with only one main ingredient: rice.  If you are now wondering, what can you eat it with? Then I would say anything. Yup, you read it right, you can eat it with any curry, any chutney or any gravy. This dosa needs practice to get it perfect the first time due to its batter consistency and pan heat.
Neer Dosa can be had for either breakfast, lunch or dinner. Since, this is lighter on your tummy, it can be had as a snack for tea or coffee.
Alternately, we do make Neer Dosa rolls with coconut and sugar stuffing. In Konkani it is called "Dhodlle Panpole"

Neer Dosa

  1. Wash and soak rice overnight.
  2. Grind the soaked rice with water to a smooth paste.
  3. Add salt and more water to get a watery consistency and mix well.
  4. Heat a non stick or iron pan on medium heat.
  5. Spread a little oil on the pan.
  6. Pour the batter around the pan. Since the consistency is thin, batter will just spread around.
  7. Fill up the gaps by pouring the batter little by little.
  8. Cover and cook for around 30 secs. Uncover it and cook it for another 30 secs for any water to evaporate.
  9. There is no need to apply oil on the dosa.
  10. Slide a flat spatula and place the dosa over a plate and let it cool slightly. If you fold the dosa when it is hot, it tends to have a sticky texture.
  11. Once the dosa is slightly cooled down, fold it into a half and another half to make it almost triangle shape .
  12. Serve it with any of your favorite  Chutney's or gravy.
