Red chilli and coconut chutney recipe

Red chilli and coconut chutney recipe is used as an accompaniment for all types of idli's and dosa's. I have made this chutney without sauteing the ingredients. If you do not want to use coconut, you can also substitute it with onion. Red chilli and coconut chutney is served in restaurants with plain coconut chutney and dosa or idli. I prefer making this chutney for dosa's.

Preparation time : 5 min
Cooking time : 5 min

Ingredients

Dry red chilli - 2 nos. (adjust according to your taste)
Coconut grated - 1/2 cup
Onion(medium) - 1 no.
Ginger - small piece
Garlic - 2 cloves
Salt to taste

Tempering:

Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - a few

Method
  1. Grind all ingredients into a coarse paste.
  2. Heat oil in a wok/kadai
  3. Add mustard seeds and let it crackle.
  4. Add curry leaves.
  5. Now add the ground paste and saute it for 2 mins.
  6. Serve the delicious Chutney with your favorite dosa or idli.
