Healthy Homemade Wheat Bread with milk
When I was a kid, I always had white bread made of Maida(All purpose flour)
. Back those days, healthy eating wasn't on the menu. In southern India, rice is our staple food and bread was a Sunday breakfast.
As I grew up, unhealthy/ processed and packaged food around us had such an impact on our health, that everyone wanted to have more healthier food. That is when, the whole wheat bread, multigrain bread and many more came into market.
I always wanted to try making bread at home, but never took it as a challenge to make it. Recently, my husband wanted to try it by himself and it came out well. So we tried another time to get it perfect.
I have used whole wheat flour, dry yeast and milk. A simple recipe but a delicious one.
Preparation time: 1hr 30 mins

Wheat flour
- 2 cups
Maida(All purpose flour)

Sugar
- 2 tbsp

Method
- Take a mixing bowl
and add wheat flour, all purpose flour and salt and mix well.
- In another small bowl, take a cup of warm water, add sugar, yeast and mix well and let it rest.
- After around 5-10 mins, add yeast mixture to the bowl with flour and mix well.
- Now add milk and knead the dough till smooth and soft.
- You can add flour little by little and keep kneading, till it is not sticky.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rest for around 10-15 mins.
- Now knead the dough again so that there aren't any air pockets inside.
- Fold it towards the bottom and place it in a baking tin/ loaf pan
.
- Cover the tin with cloth and let it rest for an hour.
- Preheat the oven at 200 C.
- Apply Olive oil
on top of the bread and place the bread tin in oven and let it bake for 30 minutes.
- If bread turns out brown before 20 minutes, place a aluminium foil
on top of the bread.
- Remove bread from oven and let it cool.
- Delicious bread is ready to be served.
