Homemade cheese garlic bread
Homemade cheese garlic bread is made using a lot of cheese which is why it's a favorite among kids. One thing to remember here is most of the kids don't like the smell and taste of garlic, but if you add the right quantity of garlic they'll love it.
Everyone likes Cheese garlic bread made in restaurants, but most of us think its difficult to make. Here is an easy recipe of cheese garlic bread which you can try at home anytime. This cheese garlic bread is made by my husband. Actually most of the baking recipes here are by my husband.

Preparation Time : 3 hrs 
Cooking Time : 15 mins


  • Warm milk  - 1/4 cup
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Instant yeast - 1 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic, crushed - 3 cloves
  • Butter - 1 tsp
  • All purpose flour / Maida - 1/2 cup
  • Oregano - 1 tsp + 1/2 tsp + 1/2 tsp
  • Basil (optional) -1 tsp + 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Ghee / Unsalted butter - 2 tsp + 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves, chopped - a few
  • Garlic, finely chopped - 3 cloves
  • Cheese, grated - 1 cup
  • Chili flakes (optional) - 1/2 tsp


  1. Take warm milk in a mixing bowl.
  2. Now add sugar in the bowl and mix well.
  3. Add instant yeast , mix well and cover the bowl with a cloth.
  4. Let it rest for 10 mins till the yeast gets activated.
  5. After the yeast gets activated, add salt, crushed garlic and butter.
  6. Now add all purpose flour and mix well.
  7. Knead the dough well for 10 mins.
  8. Now add 1 tsp oregano and 1 tsp basil and mix well.
  9. Add oil to the dough and mix well.
  10. Cover the bowl and let it rest for 2 hours, till the dough is doubled.
  11. Now take a small bowl and add 2 tsp ghee/ unsalted butter.
  12. Add the chopped garlic, coriander leaves, 1/2 tsp oregano and 1//2 tsp basil to the butter and mix well.
  13. Now add the remaining 1 tbsp. ghee/ unsalted butter to the mixture and mix well. Keep aside.
  14. After the dough is doubled, puncture the dough and knead it for another 2 mins.
  15. Sprinkle some flour on the working surface.
  16. Now flatten the dough with your fingers or a rolling pin on the surface.
  17. Apply the mixture of butter, garlic, coriander leaves, oregano and basil on the top of the flattened dough. Keep some mixture to add it on top of the bread.
  18. Sprinkle the cheese on the mixture.
  19. Now sprinkle oregano and chilli flakes.
  20. Next, fold the dough into a semicircle and seal the sides well.
  21. Place it on a baking tray with a baking paper.
  22. Now spread the remaining mixture on the folded dough.
  23. Give slits on the garlic bread.
  24. Preheat oven and bake at 200°c for 5 mins and 180°c for 10 mins.
  25. Serve hot with your favorite dip.


  • Don't forget that milk should be warm, if yeast has to get activated.
  • You can also add warm water instead of warm milk.
